September 14, 2025   /   Pastor Joseph Britain   /   Troy First Assembly of God

Blind Spot – Any area of brokenness that is obvious to others but hidden to ourselves

“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.” – Matt 7:3-5

The prophecy of Isaiah describes them perfectly: Although they listen carefully to everything I speak, they don’t understand a thing I say. They look and pretend to see, but the eyes of their hearts are closed. Their minds are dull and slow to perceive, their ears are plugged and are hard of hearing, and they have deliberately shut their eyes to the truth. – Matt 13:14-15

Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. – Gal 6:1a

  Deal with Blind Spots

Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch? – Luke 6:39

Only people who walk in the light can help others walk in the light

God expects us to be models of

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father who is in Heaven is perfect. – Matt 5:48 KJV

And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. – Php 1:6

For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. – Php 2:13

I am not saying that I have already reached that place in my life. I have not yet completely become the person that God wants me to be. But I am trying very hard to reach that place. That was Christ’s purpose when He first made me His own. – Php 3:12

Healed people help bring healing to people

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. – 2Cor 5:18
