Besetting Sins

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him. – 1Cor 2:9b

  Sin

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us – Heb 12:1

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily entangles us. – Heb 12:1a

How do we KILL Besetting Sin?

ourselves – and confess our need for God’s

This kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting – Matt 17:21

Take concrete

Rather, put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the sinful nature to gratify its desires. – Rom 13:14

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death. – James 1:14-15

Make a for it!

Flee youthful lusts – 1Tim 2:22

You are tempted in the same way all other human beings are. God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted any more than you can take. But when you are tempted, God will give you a way out. Then you will be able to deal with it. – 1Cor 10:13

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty. – Prov 22:3
Keep watching and praying, so that you do not come into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. – Matt 26:41

Lead us not into temptation – Matt 6:13a
