Under Control
May 5, 2024 / Pastor Joseph Britainwe try to control
So Samson’s wife wept in front of him and said, “You only hate me, and you do not love me; you have proposed a riddle to the sons of my people, and have not told it to me.” And he said to her, “Behold, I have not told it to my father or mother; so should I tell you?” However she wept before him for seven days while their feast lasted. And on the seventh day he told her because she pressed him so hard. – Judg 14:16-17a
are you trying to control?
And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest? – Luke 12:25-26
What you attempt to control the most,
often reveals where you trust God the least
Jesus chose over control
“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.” – Matt 26:39b
“My Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink from it, Your will be done” – Matt 26:42b
You have the power to surrender
Is it worth my concern?
Is it mine to control?
Is it for God alone?
There’s no such thing as surrender
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. – Prov 3:5-6
