You can be a Godly person with a great heart and still say,
Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.” Jesus replied, “Friend, who made Me a judge over you to decide such things as that?” Then He said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” – Luke 12:13-15
Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety – Prov 29:25
Jesus knew the meaning of
Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, you want to be with Me because I fed you, not because you understood the miraculous signs. But don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food. Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of Man can give you. For God the Father has given Me the seal of His approval.” – John 6:26-27
Jesus understood that people’s issues belong to
Jesus never
And He said to His disciples, “For this reason I tell you, do not worry about your life” – Luke 12:22a
You worry way too much for someone that always figures things out with God’s help
Jesus had a healthy balance of
– Jesus kept His own cup full
But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray. – Luke 5:16
– Jesus took a naps
And yet Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion – Mark 4:38a
– Jesus took His disciples on retreat, AWAY from people
The apostles gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught. And He said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a little while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.) And they went away in the boat to a secluded place by themselves. – Mark 6:30-32
– Jesus asked His friends for support when He was maxed out
And He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with Him, and began to be grieved and distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me.” – Matt 26:37-38
And one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him: “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” – Matt 22:35-39
